All you need to know about our refurbished appliances
In this blog, we explain what refurbishing is, how it differs from buying second-hand, and how our refurbishment process works. That way, you’ll know exactly what to expect when you bring one of our refurbished appliances into your home.
What does 'refurbished' mean?
A refurbished product is a previously used item that has been fully inspected and cleaned. After use, an expert examines the product, cleans it thoroughly, and replaces parts when necessary.
With a refurbished appliance, you get top quality at a lower monthly cost. At the same time, you give an existing product a second life. A smart and sustainable choice.
Why choose refurbished?
Refurbishing doesn’t require a full production process like manufacturing a brand-new product. This saves energy and raw materials, which is better for the environment.
In addition, the cost of inspecting, cleaning, and refurbishing a product is lower than producing a new one and you’ll see that reflected in the price. Better for the planet and for your wallet.
Is a refurbished product in perfect condition? Yes, when it comes to performance. The appliance functions exactly as it should. However, it may have minor cosmetic imperfections such as small scratches on the exterior. These do not affect how the product works.
So if you want to save money, live more sustainably, use a high-quality product, and don’t mind minor cosmetic marks, refurbished is a great choice.
Isn’t refurbished the same as second-hand?
No. Refurbished is definitely not the same as second-hand.
When you buy second-hand, you usually purchase a product directly from the previous owner, often through platforms like online marketplaces or from someone you know.
With refurbished products, the item doesn’t go directly from seller to buyer. Instead, an expert inspects and restores it first and that makes a big difference in what you receive.
The differences between refurbished and second-hand
Condition
With second-hand purchases, you buy a used product as-is. It may be damaged or not working optimally. Refurbished products, on the other hand, are restored to be as good as new.
Reliability
An expert inspects the used product, cleans it, and repairs it when necessary. This means you can be confident you’re receiving a fully functional and clean appliance.
Warranty
Second-hand purchases usually come without a warranty. If it breaks, you’re on your own. Refurbished products often include a warranty, giving you extra peace of mind.
How we refurbish
We refurbish and recycle in two ways:
When we deliver your new order, we can take your old appliance with us. Our Bosch experts inspect the device and give it a second life or recycle the parts.
If an appliance can no longer be repaired, our experts repurpose the materials to create something new.
How our experts do it:
Analyze
They inspect the appliance thoroughly. What condition is it in? Is its energy consumption still low, or has it increased due to dirty filters or a problem with the fan? Is the electrical system still working properly? And more.
Clean
The appliance is cleaned thoroughly. On the outside, for example, soap and food residue are removed. The inside is also cleaned, including removing lint and dust from filters and eliminating soap buildup.
Repair
Are repairs needed? Our experts take care of them. This significantly extends the lifespan of the appliance.
Our Bosch experts have the knowledge, skills, and experience to restore used appliances so they are clean and working perfectly again. You’ll always receive a neatly packaged product, complete with a user manual.
